Bulls, Bears, and Beignets. No Baboons... for now.
Well hey there folks,
Let’s just do fun headlines to start: The Master’s were insane (spoiler alert McIlroy got his Grand Slam — 1st time since Tiger), The White Lotus finale left everyone with a lot of feelings, March Madness ended (the women’s final between UConn and South Carolina was the 3rd most watched final of all time), the NBA and NHL regular seasons come to a close with playoffs looming, MLB opening days happened, and The Handmaid’s Tale final season began (no, I mean the actual show).
Are your stocks tired yet? I’d like to get off the ride, but I guess that’s the thrill of being stuck between a bull and a bear, albeit, in this case, maybe being stuck between an actual bull and an actual bear might feel a little safer. (Incidentally, chances of a bear-attack are 1 in 2.1 million, just in case you wondered, and while bull-attacks are not as common, and baboon-attacks might actually be a thing; I guess everyone experiences bear markets multiple times in their lifetime.) Which has me thinking, who would win in a battle between a bull and a bear? I guess it depends on which ones, I mean, bring on Ferdinand the Bull and Paddington the Bear any day of the week. Please?
Now, I know I said no baboons this time around, but this is 2025. Roll is a U.S.-based company, and if we can’t poke fun at ourselves, who can we poke fun at? And in researching bear and bull attack numbers, I had the pleasure of coming across this blog and felt the need to share it with regard to the baboons. That said, between all the stock market “fun” of the past week, and the proposed tariffs (did you catch our Insta?), there was some good sandwiched in there, and a HECK of a lot of beignets. [insert Homer drool GIF].
Saturday, we got together with MakeGood to accessi-map (patent pending) City Park in New Orleans. Back in late 2024/early 2025 we partnered with the local MakeGood contingency to map the French Quarter ahead of the Super Bowl. We love any opportunity to work together to continue our grand plans of TRYING TO MAP THE WORLD for accessibility. If you were one of the ones who came out to help map in the app, THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts. If we haven’t said it enough, we are so appreciative of every single review you leave on the app! Because, hopefully, we can make the world a little better, together.
As always, thank you for your support.

Updates on the App
So, not a huge amount to update you on here today.
You got the memo about the usernames last newsletter, and if you missed it, then you might have also missed the whole “baboon” bit I’ve been leaning far too heavily on. The gist? You can choose your own username, but if you don’t, you will be assigned one randomly, and it could say something like, I don’t know, “baboonlover92” so WATCH OUT. (Especially, now that we know that baboon attacks, while uncommon, ARE NOT OUT OF THE REALM OF POSSIBILITY.)
Finally, we are getting closer to our biggest update to date with a very cool new feature. I know, I know, bad teaser, but it’s not the end of April yet, and we are still working out some kinks. Guess you’ll just have to read the newsletter next time 😉
We think you should check out Colorado Uncharted airing TONIGHT, Thursday, April 17th at 7:00pm MST — our very own Rachel will be featured and the show highlights geographical and cultural aspects of specific regions in Colorado.
We’d love to hear from you! Did we miss the mark, or do you have an idea to make it better? Reach out at [email protected].

Accessi-stories From Around the World
A Japanese company is providing some hope for the over 15 million people affected by spinal cord injury and paralysis. This study began in 2021 and utilizes stem cell therapy injections. The human trials conducted thus far have shown mixed outcomes, but some very promising results within this cohort. Obviously, this is in the early stages of scientific and medical research, but it is hopeful and promising at best.

Good Folks Doin’ Good Thangs
Adaptive Surf Project recently partnered with Myrtle Beach, The Pilot Club, and Coastal Adaptive Sports to support access opportunities in their community by installing new beach matting. This is a continuation of work done previously in this community to improve beach access. Snaps to Myrtle Beach and all those involved in making sure we all get to say, “suns out, buns out.” Or at the very least, try to tan our pale winter-bods and soak in some Vitamin D.

This has us thinking, have you recently had a chance to try something new? If you could try any sport or experience that you never thought possible, what would it be?
