Well hey there folks,

How’s it going this week? Did you drink your water? Get a snack? Make a backyard bird count list with your Merlin app? (If you’re wondering what weird animal thing I’m referring to this week: https://www.birdcount.org/)

The Epstein files release and revelations continue. Bad Bunny The Seahawks won the Super Bowl here in the states. The Olympics are already overflowing with drama and emotion (we wouldn’t expect anything else, right?). And Endless Winter (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere) is still dragging her icy fingers along our spine on the long march toward spring—so says that wily whistle-pig a couple weeks back.

Over here at Roll, we’re rolling along on the development side of things, which remains exciting. Also: a few of you kindly asked who the heck is writing this newsletter. Fair! I ask myself who I am all the time.

I’m the content strategist at Roll. Translation: I write. I brainstorm social content with Rachel and Jerod. I help hone what Roll sounds and looks like – with plenty of input (none of us are driving this crazy train alone, I promise). I’ve spent years across aging services, behavioral health, community health & human services, policy, and healthcare: a jack of all trades, if you will. So, hello! And thanks for asking. I hope to meet more of you “in the wild.”

Without further ado (and because we’re all dreaming of spring, aren’t we?), here’s some Wheel-y Good News about going further, together.

As always, thank you for the support,
Sarah

😄 Wheel-y Good News 😁

Good Folks Doin’ Good Thangs

Wheel-y good news for the group chat: 2026 is quietly shaping up to be a very decent year for getting more bodies (and wheels) out on the trails. 👏 Burbank just launched the San Fernando Valley’s first trail accessibility program at Stough Canyon—complete with an all-terrain Action Trackchair, free demos, and a reservation system so folks can actually use it. Peep this demo:

But, wait! There’s more. Pennsylvania’s DCNR is kicking off the year with a fresh budget allocation aimed at improved trail access (and a bunch of other outdoor upgrades). See the breakdown here.

And on the national park side, 2026 brings more fee-free days for U.S. residents plus an all-digital pass.  Say what you want about the politics (and what it means for non-U.S. residents), but we do love the digital pass—and any move that nudges more people toward nature.

Super Mega Bonus: Great Smoky Mountains’ adaptive program days are slated to return in 2026 with partners like the National Park Service, Catalyst Sports, Knox County, and Friends of the Smokies (hello night hike + GRIT chair opportunities + adaptive kayaks and mountain bikes).

If you (or your cousin’s roommate’s partner’s aunt) know anyone in a parks department or nonprofit who wants to collaborate on a Roll mapping event—hit us up! What parks and trails are you most excited to explore this spring? We’d love to hear!

📣 “Your Ad Here”📢

Any newsletter (or blog) has to have ads if they want to keep bringing the content and improving what they offer, and we really want to, AND we want to be able to scale this whole endeavor (namely: the app) and keep everything free on the user side. Well, in order to do that, we have to raise that cheddar baby. And in order to do so we have to bring you ads. I know, I know, everything is ads. But, we at least want to bring you things that are actually relevant. That’s where you come in, would-be advertisers! Your company that makes the little doohickey (I am not, in fact, 87 years old.) that holds your cell phone to your chair? Perfect place to advertise — right here in The Roll Up. Or, hey! Have a short shout-out/or event to advertise that our audience (read: disabled individuals and their support people) should know about? We have a spot for that too. See? No ad too small, no ad too large, it’s juuuussst right. See how we can help your business reach your desired demographics — over 9,000 people every two weeks. If this sounds like it’s right up your alley, find out more below.
