Happy New Year, Folks!

Wow, what a whirlwind the past few months have been! We've been working tirelessly behind the scenes. So much development magic has been happening! Unfortunately, I had to hit pause on this newsletter while I poured my energy into crafting some fantastic new features for the app. Stay tuned for all the excitement coming your way!

Quickly today, I wanted to let everyone know some pretty cool stats for 2024 and a few updates pushed live in December.

2024 Stats

• I had to double-check this multiple times as I did not believe it initially. Our incredible community has generated reviews in over 118 countries, and they're written in multiple languages!

• On average, every month, our users tackle over 18,000 questions.

• In the past 6 months your reviews have helped people over 250,000 times find out if a location is available. We only started tracking this in late June, so imagine how much higher the number is for the entire year!

• Plus, you've watched a staggering 3,484 days of video content on our social platforms. It's mind-blowing to think about how much our content has been enjoyed.

News +Updates

Review Question Updates

The top issue that our support team has received is issues related to the questions we ask to be answered to leave a review. The entire team has read every single email, direct message, and support ticket related to this issue.

On the 6th of December, a new set of questions was published. It took a bit of time for this next revision of questions due to how critical these are to the success of the app.

We needed the questions to follow these guidelines:

1. Help a user reading the answers. A question that does not give the user good information is worthless.
   

2. It should be better understood. We realize that some of the questions did not make sense or that some folks did not understand what we were asking. This was our failure, and we hope we have made some good improvements.
   

3. Allow an N/A option when necessary. Adding an NA option is challenging as it allows someone to skip the question. This, in the long run, does not help anyone. We also understand that not all questions apply to all places.
   

We understand that this will be a work in progress, so these are by any means final. As we continue to grow and more places are reviewed, we understand that questions will need to be tweaked for some location types.

Ads in the app

Over the past few months we have been testing ads in the app. There is a balance between impacting the overall user experience and also allowing enough ads to display to help offset the cost of running the app.

Running this app costs money, and we are still a small, unfunded startup. We are trying to get the balance of ads right without impacting the experience too much. We are always open to finding a better way to do almost anything. Please let us know if someone has a better way for us to display ads.

What’s coming in January

Later this month, we should release users' ability to edit their reviews in the app. We are testing this feature now, and it should be ready to deploy here in a few weeks.
