Places, Places and More Places

Hey Folks a quick update,

We have been quiet on the updates over here. We have been heads down working and will resume the normal weekly updates next week. In the meantime, you will be pleased with what we have been up to.

I and the entire Roll team are thrilled to announce an important update: our backend has been successfully migrated to a new and improved place provider with exceptional worldwide coverage! 🎉 This upgrade is designed to enhance your experience and ensure that our platform runs more efficiently, reliably, and with better access to global locations.

Please download the latest version of the app from the app stores. We will be disabling the ability for older versions to search for places in the next 24 hours.

Why We Made the Change

Over the past few months, we’ve carefully listened to your feedback. Many of you experienced difficulties locating places on our platform, which affected the overall user experience. We took these concerns to heart and worked hard to find a solution. After thoroughly evaluating different options, we decided to migrate to a new provider offering a wider, more robust coverage of locations worldwide.

What to Expect

  • With this migration, you should notice:

  • Improved worldwide location accuracy

  • Faster search and load times

More consistent performance across regions

These changes are part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best global experience.

Migration in Progress

Please note, however, that while most locations are now accessible via the new system, you may encounter some existing places on the map displaying an error message. This is temporary and part of our process as we continue migrating all data to the new provider.

Rest assured, our team is working diligently to complete the migration and minimize disruptions. If you do encounter an error, it is likely that the location is still being transferred and will be available soon.

Thank You for Your Patience

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this transition. Our goal is to make the platform even better for you, and this migration is a major step in that direction. We are confident that the enhanced backend will result in a more seamless experience for all our users.

If you have any questions or run into issues, please don't hesitate to contact our support team. We're here to help!

Thank you for being a part of our community!
